Cargo Climate Care Award

Cargo Climate Care Award Conference
On 26 February 2009 our first Climate Care Conference was held in Frankfurt. More than 160 guests attended – clients and staff of Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo as well as scientists. Also representatives were present from both business and politics. Highly interesting presentations were given by speakers of the IATA, DLR, Kühne+Nagel, Nokia, Air BP and others. They presented technical possibilities and future visions and beyond that reported about improvement potentials in the logistics sector and the challenges the transport industry will have to meet in the future.
Representatives of the Federal Ministry of environment, nature conservation and reactor safety as well as the association “Deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V.” made demands on the airline industry and pointed out the airlines’ responsibility for society. The speeches provided manifold incentives for intensive discussions among the different parties of the audience. Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board Member Karl–Heinz Köpfle, says: “By hosting this conference we showed once again, that in spite of facing a difficult economic situation, environmental and climate protection are not only lip services at Lufthansa Cargo but part of the corporate culture. Through our commitment and by prioritizing environmental topics we have achieved a lot in recent years. But the big steps can only be taken in cooperation with our customers, politics and sciences.”
